From tackling boring politicians to celebrating fishing trophies, a two month long project has given Lithuanian artists a much-needed boost in net-based art.
WebJs, a mix of eight weeks research, internet folklore and an endless stream of internet data, is the result of a residency programme in Nida Art Colony, supported by the Lithuanian Interdisciplinary Artist’s Association. Dirk Paesmans from the JODI.org collective (Dirk Paesmans & Joan Heemskerk) was joined by Lithuanian artists Darius Miksys, Irma Stanaityte, Andrius Kviliunas, Robertas Narkus, and Linas Ramanauskas.

The 6th laboratory of the Migrating Art Academies (MigAA) project continues with its shaping format – a synthesis of mobility, art and sciences. The CouchSurfing laboratory aims to bring together more than 10 European art universities schools and other cultural organisations to set rules for a cooperation model which will offer emerging artists professional knowledge and feasible mobility. The proposed network of cultural organisations offers a low-budget model for artistic collaboration and tutoring based on “CouchSurfing”, the practice of moving from one friend’s house to another and sleeping in whatever spare space is available.

Machtzentren, oder die sich dafuer halten, muessen sich mit Spielen und Gespielinnen umgeben: Bio- und Flohmaerkte, Ausstellungen, Benefiz, Strassenmusik. Die Hauptstadt der hiesigen “globalen Fuehrungsmacht” wird seid Jahren zu einem Spielplatz gemacht, voller idiotischer, nichtssagender oder machttragender Kreativitaetslogistika. Spielraeume gibt es genug, und wirklich sind sie abgeschafft.
