PERFORMANCE VOYAGE 7 at Berlin Art Week “Protest Song Competition!”

Performance Voyage 7, an international compilation of video performances organised by MUU galleria – Helsinki, Finland, will be screened at >top Schillerpalais, Berlin, 14 September 2017. The event also includes live performances. PV7 artists at present in the event are Kim Dotty Hachmann, Heidi Kilpeläinen, Timo Kokko, Arja Renell, Kikka Rytkönen and Elizabeth Wurst. Special guest star for the evening will be Berlin-based artist Mimosa Pale with her The Wandering Shocks performance.

Performance Voyage 7 at >top Schillerpalais is a part of the Berlin Art Week programme. Performance Voyage 7 contains a selection of video performances from 18 international artists / groups, on the theme of Protest Song Competition!

Protest songs are generally associated with movements that demand social change. The works in Performance Voyage 7 cover themes like frustration, revolution, one’s possibilities to influence the society and resistance – and offer new ways experiencing the world.

The artists of Performance Voyage 7 are: Kuesti Fraun (Germany), Kim Dotty Hachmann & Steffi Simmen (Germany), Sasha Huber & Petri Saarikko (Finland), Heidi Kilpeläinen (Finland / England), Francois Knoetze (South Africa), Timo Kokko (Finland), Paweł Korbus (Poland), Vik Laschenov (Russia), Elin Magnusson (Sweden), Elena Mazzi (Italy), Iwona Ogrodzka (Poland), Ignacio Pérez Pérez (Venezuela / Finland), Arja Renell (Finland), Kikka Rytkönen (Finland), Julia Schicker (Switzerland), Jukka Silokunnas (Finland), Niko Skorpio (Finland) and Elizabeth Wurst (Peru / Germany).

The collection was curated by Heidi Kilpeläinen (artist), Jaakko Nousiainen (Head of Arts & Culture, Finnish Institute in London) and Timo Soppela (Director, MUU). Performance Voyage 7 is supported by the City of Helsinki Cultural Office.

Berlin Art Week is an annual highlight of Berlin’s art scene. For the sixth time, a rich variety of contemporary art is introduced via exhibitions, fairs, artist films and much more.
