Xristina Sarli

Xristina Sarli is a bioartist, game artist, XR artist, hybrid researcher and curator.
They fuse biomaterials, mycofabrication, extended realities, and gamification systems to challenge conventional boundaries between art, science, technology, nature, and activism.

At TopLab, Xristina Sarli curates and develops hybrid events and research projects that merge art, science, technology, and ecology. Their work explores regenerative cultures and more-than-human solutions against ecocide through conceptual frameworks and multi-sensory storytelling, creating hybrid environments and tangible interactions that challenge human-centred narratives.

As a hybrid researcher, artist, and curator, they integrate bio-art, XR, and ecological futures, using biomaterials, mycofabrication, and gamification systems to foster dialogue between art, science, and environmental activism.

In 2024, Sarli co-founded MycoHackers with Alessandro Volpato and Melissa Ingaruca, contributing to projects and workshops on mycofabrication, mycelium-based art, ecological technologies, and speculative design. This research is documented and shared through tutorials and open-source resources within the upcoming Mycofabrication School, which will be part of TopLab’s platform.

Since 2025, Sarli’s collaborations include BioGlitch, with Alexandra Maciá and Giorgio Alloatti, a project transforming pollution into art through a plastic-eating fungus that produces sound and visual data from DNA.

Xristina Sarli´s ongoing works include:

  • Bioluminescent sculptures
  • Mycomaterial workshops and zero-waste fashion research using mushroom leather
