Urban Surveillance Bureau hosting the workshop “herefuture” on January 29, by Aslı Dinç and Zeynep Okyay with storytelling of the cities and people.

herefuture is a participatory project by Aslı Dinç (multi-disciplinary artist, researcher) and Zeynep Okyay (curator, cultural worker). It collects the visions of the future of people living together in the city today, through interviews, workshops, and surveys. The process is documented with the audio recordings, video, and mapping.

The workshop #meetmeinthefuture takes place in the form of role-playing; participants are divided into two groups: ones coming from the future and others living in the present. Different groups in society including experts, artists, local key figures, youth and/or migrants are invited to contribute to the workshops to formulate their proposals and express themselves unconditionally.

What would they ask each other? What would be the common concerns they share? Will there be war in the future? Will there be flying cars? What will become of the cities? What about displacement? And the education system? What about politics?
Throughout the game between the two groups, herefuture aims to create collaborative storytelling of the future and exchange common ideas of a world to come.
