Wir wollen euch herzlichst einladen zu einer Spezialedition unserer bisherigen DIT (Do-It-Together)-Möbelbauworkshops: einem Intensiv-Wochenende mit einem aufregenden Programm, inklusive Kiezspaziergang, Gästevortrag, Sperrholzsammeln, kartieren, bauen, gestalten und vielem mehr!*Anmeldung erforderlich wegen begrenzter Teilnehmer*innenzahl – mehr Info dazu unten*
Gemeinsam wollen wir die Nachbarschaft erkunden und untersuchen, wie durch künstlerische und gestalterische Interventionen im öffentlichen Raum neue Perspektiven, zwischenmenschliche Interaktionen und Lösungsansätze für mögliche bestehende Problematiken entstehen können. Wie immer wollen wir mit “Materialien” von der Straße bauen; grundlegendes Wissen zu Gestaltung und Arbeiten mit Holz wird vor Ort auf Augenhöhe ausgetauscht.
Wir freuen uns, Michael Maginness und Berk Asal vom interdisziplinären Neuköllner Designstudio ON/OFF zu Gast zu haben mit einem Vortrag zu ihrer Arbeit im Kollektiv, mit der sie die Zwischenräume und Überschneidungen des urbanen Zusammenlebens kritisch und spielerisch untersuchen. Durch ihre mobilen Strukturen im öffentlichen Raum befördern sie neue Beziehungen und Sichtweisen zu unserer städtischen Umgebung, mit uns selbst und unseren Mitmenschen.
Produktdesigner und Tischler Veiko Liis, Architektin Melissa Harrison und Designerin Katharina Moebus vom Common(s)Lab werden euch neben ihnen an diesem Wochenende im Gestaltungs-und Bauprozess unterstützen. Die Ergebnisse werden in einem Zine dokumentiert und der Öffentlichkeit durch eine kleine Ausstellung im Projektraum >top zugänglich gemacht; ebenso wie die Prototypen, die wir mit euch bei einem öffentlichen Event in der Nachbarschaft testen wollen.

SPRACHE(N): Hauptsprachen sind deutsch und englisch, Sprache soll keine Barriere sein – bei Bedarf wird direkt übersetzt
VERPFLEGUNG: vegane Suppe und Brot, Knabbereien, Kaffee, Tee etc. werden an beiden Tagen auf Spendenbasis gestellt. Essbare Mitbringsel eurerseits sind natürlich auch immer willkommen! :)

DIT KIEZMÖBEL – EXTRAVAGANZA

Building on our previous DIT furniture workshops, we invite you to join us for a weekend extravaganza, comprising inspirational talks, workshopping, making with simple hand tools, and intervening in our common spaces! We will enjoy inputs from various people working in and with public space; wander the neighbourhood to explore and document the often invisible aspects and relationships; collect waste materials off the streets; and, together, come up with and build propositions that deal with a need, simply spark a dialogue, or engender different perceptions of the city.
We will be joined by Michael Maginness and Berk Asal from ON/OFF, an interdisciplinary design studio based in Neukölln, to discuss their mobile structures and collaborative practice in public space. Their work explores the in-betweens and overlaps of the urban experience to engage local inhabitants in an immediate relationship with their environment and each other.
Together with them, carpenter-designer Veiko Liis, architect Melissa Harrison, and designer Katharina Moebus from Common(s)Lab will be there to support the design and building process.
The results will be documented in a zine and presented to the public through a small exhibition at >top project space. We will also later organise a public event in the neighbourhood, putting the prototypes to action.

We try to make space for all, but as we have limited capacities (15 spots), we cannot confirm participation to all. We will try to build a diverse group with mixed backgrounds and skills. You will be notified a few days before.
WORKSHOP LANGUAGE(S): all languages welcome, main languages will be German and English, but language should not be a barrier for participating
FOOD: vegan soup and bread, snacks, coffee, tea and drinks will be provided on both days on donation basis; edible contributions from your side are, of course, always welcome! :)
COSTS: no fixed fee, donations welcome to support our project and fund material and organising costs :)

About the weekend seminar & workshop:
During the Do-It-Together (DIT) building weekend comprising a psychogeographic neighbourhood walk and mapping, an inspirational input by ON/OFF design collective, and diverse co-creative methods, participants collectively designed and built public furniture for Schillerkiez. Using simple hand tools and techniques as well as scrap wood found in the neighbourhood, the workshop aims to tackle local waste issues and render making culture accessible to local citizens, whilst exchanging knowledge and creative making skills on same eye-level based on a peer-to-peer philosophy. Carpenter/designer Veiko Liis, architect Melissa Harrison, and designer Katharina Moebus from >top project space/ Common(s)Lab facilitated and supported the creative process and building.
A shelter structure containing various seats (two integrated and one independent bench; a stool), a kitchen table, and a sharing shelf to give away old clothes, books, etc. intervened close to the project space on Schillerpromenade.
The event series seeks to explore and reveal the potential of citizen agency in design, architecture, and construction to activate common spaces. Making furniture together was used as a method to engage pluralities, locals and newcomers alike, challenging people’s perspectives on access and ownership (to material, knowledge, community, space, etc.).
The process, methods and results will be documented in a zine (event 3) and presented to the public through a small exhibition at TOP project space in January 2019 (11th-13th – event 4).
