Four women meet in a private apartment in Helsinki to discuss the meaning they attach to the term “political”. Through this intellectual discussion based on Hannah Arendt’s thinking, and the monologues each of the women, they define the image of a political individual and a political woman: What does ‘political’ mean? How to define ‘womanly political’? Is it possible to attain a revolutionism that transcends generations and redefine ‘political’?

The Feminist Tea Party
Feminist tea party is a get-together-meeting. There will be presented short introductions to artistic practices as a feminist strategy. What does it mean to be a feminist in today’s society? What can we learn about feminist strategies and art? Artist talk and invited guests, t.b.a.
Jaana Kokko is an artist living and working in Helsinki, Finland. In her artistic practice she is interested not only in the exploration of the expressive and historical aspects of art, but finds it equally important to understand and be aware of the fact that a finished piece of art and the act of displaying it publicly are political comments. Jaana Kokko has had solo exhibitions for example in Moderna Museet, Stockholm (2012); Pori Art Museum Finland (2013); Optica – Center for Contemporary Art, Montréal, Canada (2010); and Anna Ahmatova Art Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia (2007). From 2010 she is a PhD student at Art Department at Aalto University, University of Art, Design and Architecture in Helsinki.
