Since January 2024 and for the next three years, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is working together with the Technische Universität Berlin and twelve other European organisations on the joint project “LAUDS Factories”. The aim of the initiative is to create a sustainable model for digital manufacturing. While most of the partner organisations are contributing their technical and entrepreneurial knowledge, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is adding its artistic perspective. The first workshop will now take place in Berlin on Friday, 10 May 2024.

On May 10th Media Environments Chair of the Bauhaus University in collaboration with TOP Association for the Promotion of Cultural Practice organise in Berlin a co-creation workshop with the aim to crystalize the needs of our future alumnae and other emerging creatives. Participants of the workshop will work together on a vision that later may be implemented as a functioning versatile factory to co-create and produce customized products in small series. TOP Association for the Promotion of Cultural Practice in Berlin will help to implement that vision.

LAUDS factories is dedicated to embodying the principles of open, circular and distributed manufacturing. The mission is to create a realistic, measurable and replicable demonstration of an approach underpinned by a bottom-up, standardised and unified techno-social manufacturing framework. The framework will pioneer small factories in local and urban areas, fostering user-centric, agile co-creation throughout the manufacturing chain. We look forward to reduce carbon footprints, enhance customer satisfaction and invigorate the job market by enabling creatives and entrepreneurs to co-create and produce custom products locally. With sustainability at its core, we represent a paradigm shift towards a green, circular and digitally regenerated future of EU-based production.

The event is organized by the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar in collaboration with TOP Association for the Promotion of Cultural Practice in Berlin. LAUDS factories is supported by the European Union HORIZON program, coordinated by TU Berlin.
